Prince William Is Sad
Prince William friend killed in IraqPRINCE William was "deeply saddened" to learn that one of the female British soldiers killed in Iraq this week was his close friend and colleague, his office said.
Jo Dyer graduated from the elite Sandhurst military academy alongside William in December, in front of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.
The army second lieutenant was killed by a roadside bomb attack west of the southern city of Basra, along with three colleagues and a local civilian interpreter.
"Prince William is deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of Jo Dyer's death," the 24-year-old's Clarence House residence said.
"Jo was a close friend of his at Sandhurst and he is very much thinking of her family and friends right now and they will remain in his thoughts and prayers."
2nd Lt Dyer was attached to the Second Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment to gain operational experience in Iraq.
The deaths of 2nd Lt Dyer and Private Eleanor Dlugsoz in Thursday's attack brought to four the number of female British personnel killed since the start of the US-led invasion in March 2003.
Overall, 140 British troops have died since hostilities began.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Kenyon, 2nd Lt Dyer's commanding officer, said "her contribution to our operations, even within a few short weeks, was invaluable''.
Prime Minister Tony Blair said the deaths were the "result of a terrorist act".
William, second in line to the British throne, is an officer in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry. The second lieutenant is known as Cornet Wales in the army.
William's brother Prince Harry, 22, is preparing to serve in southern Iraq with the
Blues and Royals.

According to ET Online, the Daniel Smith inquest proceedings are expected to resume on April 11. Well, it's time to move forward and let the ball rolling! No more extension please. We are waiting for the justice to be done on Daniel’s death.
It’s quite absurd that the court keeps on delaying the inquest. What are they waiting for? Since the day of his death, I couldn’t sleep. The next thing I knew was his beloved mother died too! It streaked me big time! It’s a long, long road to go and my heart bleeds for the bereaved and the next of kin.
May the good Lord lead them in the right path, faith, and patient. My heart goes out for them. Amen.

Canada starts seal hunt
Canada's commercial seal hunt has kicked off with the aim of killing 270,000 harp seals, but only a few boats left port in search of prey, officials said.
The hunt "opened today" in traditional seal breeding grounds in the southern Gulf of St Lawrence, Fisheries Department spokesman Phil Jenkins told AFP.
"To our knowledge, there are a couple of vessels out there. But we have not yet heard of any sealing activity," he said, noting that "seals are scarce" there this season because of poor ice conditions.
Up to 20 per cent of the Atlantic herd usually nests on thick ice floes in the southern Gulf, but this year authorities and animal rights groups found only slush and ice fragments too small to support a newborn pup.
Ice floes in the northern Gulf and around Newfoundland province, where hunting can begin in April 4, remain in good condition.
In the past three years, 1 million harp seals have been killed in the commercial hunt in eastern Canada.

Morbid Killings of Baby Seals.
How can you stop the seal hunters? There’s no way of stopping them-it’s their livelihood. They enjoy killing the seals for money and its pelts. It is quite satanic. How morbid! We can look down at them as immoral and have no fear in God.
It’s a horror out there right now! It’s a blood bath, so to speak! I could only weep and drain my tears in sorrow.
