Salma plays12 Nurses in a Beatle Musical 'Across the universe

SALMA HAYEK was so desperate to land "any role" in pal JULIE TAYMOR's new BEATLES movie musical, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, she ended up playing 12 nurses in the film. When the Latina heard her Frida director was making a movie featuring the songs of one of her favourite groups, she felt she had to be involved. Taymor says, "She said, `Julie, what can I play? Isn't there anything?' There were all really young parts but I said, `OK, you can play one of the nurses.' "She said, `Only one of the nurses?' So I said, `Alright, you can be all of the nurses.' I think there were 12 in the beginning and we cut it down."

Random drug tests ordered for Spears

A LOS Angeles County Court commission has laid down the law to Britney Spears, saying there was evidence the pop star was "a habitual, frequent and continuous" user of drugs and alcohol and ordering random biweekly drug tests.

The commission, ruling in a dispute between Spears and her former husband, Kevin Federline, also said she must seek the advice of a parenting coach.

Federline wanted to reconsider the pair's child custody agreement after several high-profile incidents of erratic behaviour by Spears. Read more...

As Rita Cosby's book, "Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith's Death," sashays onto best-seller lists, Howard K. Stern -- Smith's longtime companion -- continues to bash Cosby over details his camp calls slanderous lies. Stern and Larry Birkhead, the father of Smith's 1-year-old daughter Dannielynn, have threatened legal action against Cosby over allegations in the book about the two men.

When Armour & Co. caught up with Cosby on Friday, she said she was unfazed by the threat. "That's what you would expect," Cosby told us. "I expected them to deny everything tooth and nail. The person who asked us not to put that in the book, when they heard it would possibly be in the book, was the attorney for Howard K. Stern and Larry Birkhead. So you have to take it with a grain of salt."
