Paul McCartney gets back to his roots with his 20th post-Beatles studio recording, playing most of the instruments himself and meticulously assembling the 13 tracks over the course of two years with help from co-producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck). Godrich, who was suggested to McCartney by Beatles producer George Martin, reputedly pushed Macca through the painstaking preparation of the album, challenging him to produce a recording that stands with his best solo efforts.
