Royal Watch News: Prince William ready to marry

Sep 3, 2007, 12:00 GMT

Britain's Prince William has reportedly told his grandmother Queen Elizabeth he is ready to propose to girlfriend Kate Middleton.

William - who recently rekindled his romance with the stunning brunette following a three-month break - revealed his plans to the queen in a heart-to-heart phone call after he returned from a make-or-break holiday in the Seychelles with Kate.

The queen is said to be thrilled as she was worried William would lose public support if he kept playing with Kate's emotions.

A source close to the couple told Britain's People newspaper: "The queen left William in no doubt that she felt he had compromised himself by dumping Kate so brutally, then meekly taking her back.

"She was delighted when William came back from their holiday and told her, for the first time, that he felt ready to commit."

The 25-year-old prince gushed to his grandmother about how much he and Kate had enjoyed their holiday, and revealed it made him realise she is the one for him.

Meanwhile, Kate is reportedly set to quit her job to pursue a career in photography.

The 25-year-old beauty, who has a degree in history of art, has been working as a part-time accessories buyer for UK high street store jigsaw but now wants a new challenge.

A source told Britain's Mail on Sunday: "Kate has become increasingly frustrated working at Jigsaw.

"She really wants to move and is seriously thinking about a career in photography. "She loves cameras and has a great eye. She has already started putting an exhibition of her work together."

Dylan freewheels with the truth

HAS Bob Dylan lost it - or is he just showing a more slender than ever regard for the facts of his own life? Last Saturday night, 38 summers after the Woodstock music-peace-and-love festival, Dylan finally got around to playing on the sacred turf of Max Yasgur's farm.

Dressed in black, he played his way through a set ranging from The Times They Are A'Changing to his latest album, Modern Times.

"It's nice to be back here," he said, squinting at what is now the Bethel Woods Centre for the Arts. "Last time we played here, we had to play at six in the morning, and it was a-rainin', and the field was full of mud."

What? Dylan lived in Woodstock the village in 1969, and he did play the Isle of Wight, Britain's version of the festival, where it also rained. But he famously skipped the Woodstock festival, and everyone knows it.

As they say: if you can remember the Sixties, you weren't there.
