The race to dominate the decade in music has come down to Eminem and The Beatles in the stretch. The winner?
Both. The rapper emerges as the top-selling artist of the past 10 years, and the Fab Four have bragging rights to the best-selling album.
With 32.2 million copies sold, Eminem leads the pack in overall album sales, followed by The Beatles with 30 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan, which releases its decade tabulations today. Data were tallied through Nov. 1, and though figures could rise through Dec. 31, they won't alter the rankings.

Pachauri and environmental activist Sir Paul McCartney will urge legislators and experts to focus on what an individual can do to fight climate change, for example by eating less meat.
The 'Global Warming and Food Policy: Less Meat = Less Heat' hearing takes place on 3 December, in Parliament's plenary chamber, in Brussels, from 10.00 to 12.30, chaired by Vice-President Edward McMillan-Scott. The opening speech is to be delivered by Parliament's President Jerzy Buzek. It will be followed by a press conference.
The UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) produced a major report ‘Livestock’s Long Shadow’ in 2006 which demonstrated that meat production is much less efficient in the use of various inputs and very intensive in emissions of greenhouse gases and water use as compared to equivalent vegetarian food production.
On the eve of the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen the event reflects a perception that climate change needs to be addressed at all levels – especially individual but also at local, regional, national, across Europe and worldwide.
As a legislative body, Parliament votes on the EU laws that help to slow climate change. Parliament has thoroughly examined climate change issues with respect to agriculture, food and development policies and will present its views to the heads of governments meeting in the Danish capital from 7 - 18 December 2009."

Judge Makes BlueBeat Beatles Ban Really Official
BlueBeat claims that it pays royalties to SoundExchange, and that prior to the site's launch in 2004, it entered into confidential agreements with major recording labels, including EMI, which allowed the labels to evaluate if BlueBeat contained copyrighted material. BlueBeat says that the entire Beatles catalogue was on its site during the EMI evaluation but they "made no objection to its inclusion."
EMI denies that BlueBeat has ever paid any royalties for its songs, and charges that the 25-cent MP3 sales offered by the Web site "has the potential to destroy [EMI's] ability to sell, lawfully exploit, or otherwise control their sound recordings" in addition to the relationships EMI has built with licensees and artists.
The two sides were scheduled to meet in court Friday.

'Pirate Radio' Star Tom Sturridge Snubbed Paul McCartney
British movie hunk Tom Sturridge may have grown up listening to the Beatles but his true allegiance lies more with sports stars than music icons. At the recent London premiere for his film 'Pirate Radio,' which tells the story of a band of DJs broadcasting a British radio station aboard a ship, Sturridge literally brushed Sir Paul McCartney aside to meet his Irish rugby idol.

To get an idea of how strange today's gossip scene is we need to look at the history of gossiping. There is no beginning to speak of. We assume that buzzing about others is one of those immutable truisms of the human condition: people talk about other people for the sake of talking about other people. [...]
Oh, yeah! We are only human and whenever our friends talk behind our back someone would tell you and ask you if there is truth about the gossip--then it hurt so much inside because some of the story told were untrue and unfounded -inconclusive grounds!
